Jorge Valls

Conductor
Jorge Valls is a musician whose passion for musical excellence and youth led him to pursue a career in music education. He holds a B.M. in Music Education from Palm Beach Atlantic University, where he graduated summa cum laude. 
 
Mr. Valls is currently in his ninth year of teaching and his sixth year of teaching at Bak Middle School of the Arts. Prior to Bak, Mr. Valls built the choral program at Eagles Landing Middle School in Boca Raton where the program grew from 80 to over 200 students in three short years. Choirs under his direction consistently receive high ratings at district assessments and competitions. They have also received first place in their divisions at the Festival Disney competition, Music USA competition in Orlando, Heritage Music Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Heritage Festival of Gold in Chicago, Illinois. In the Fall of 2018, he conducted the Bak Middle School of the Arts Chorale at the Florida ACDA Conference. In the summer of 2019, Mr. Valls conducted the Bak MSOA Chorale in Carnegie Hall. In the Fall of 2022, Mr. Valls conducted the Bak MSOA Tenor-Bass chorus in the Florida ACDA Conference. Students in his program have participated in many district, state, and national honor choirs. Mr. Valls is an active clinician and adjudicator throughout the state of Florida. He also serves as the Middle School Repertoire & Resources Chair for the Florida ACDA Board. In addition to Bak, Mr. Valls conducts the Men’s Chorus for the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches which holds annual concerts at the Kravis Center for the Performing arts in West Palm Beach. 
 
In the summers, Mr. Valls has worked as a counselor at Interlochen Arts Camp, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and The Kravis Center Arts Camp. In summer of 2013, he traveled as a performer and staff member for the Blue Lake International Choir, which toured throughout Germany, France, and Luxembourg. From 2013-2022, Mr. Valls was the Associate Director for the Girl Choir of South Florida from. His choirs at Girl Choir performed at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Disney, and Arizona. 
 
Devoted to cultivating music education in the community, he holds memberships in the National Association for Music Education, the American Choral Director’s Association, the Florida Vocal Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity.
