Emily Carter is a South Florida native and widely respected music educator, musical theatre director, and classical soprano across the South Florida area. She currently serves as the Upper School Musical Theatre and Choral Director in the prestigious and award-winning Fine Arts program at American Heritage School, Palm Beach.
A graduate of A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts and Florida Atlantic University, Ms. Carter graduated with her Masters in Choral Music Education and Conducting from Mississippi State University in June 2022. She currently holds her professional teaching certificate in Elementary, Music, and Drama Education, and is certified in the Orff-Schulwerk approach. She is a member of Florida Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, and the American Choral Directors Association. In the summer of 2018, Ms. Carter was invited to continue her studies abroad as a participant in the Choral Institute at Oxford conducting intensive studies with Westminster Choir College to conduct the Grammy-nominated Williamson Voices under the direction of Dr. James Jordan. In addition to her experience in the classroom, Ms. Carter enjoys performing on stage and in the church setting. Her experience spans a variety of styles including classical, musical theatre, opera, jazz and folk. Her voice has been featured on Live Hymnal: Procession and Live Hymnal: Prelude albums, a liturgical offering of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Boynton Beach.
In her spare time, Ms. Carter enjoys playing tennis, reading, traveling, and spending time with her two children, Audrey and Hastings.
