Carrie Leahy has taught for twenty-three years at the middle school & high school levels in Palm Beach and Martin Counties. After spending the past 13 years conducting an outstanding middle school vocal program of up to 200 students at Independence Middle School in Jupiter, Ms. Leahy has brought her talents and energy to Bak Middle School of the Arts. She is thrilled to begin the next chapter of her career working with the exceptional students and distinguished staff in the Bak Vocal Department. This is her ninth season working with the terrific team and remarkable students at Young Singers of the Palm Beaches.
Ms. Leahy grew up in Palm Beach County and is honored to continue the tradition of choral excellence with students in her community. Her choruses consistently receive the highest ratings at Music Performance Assessments and competition festivals. She also serves as a clinical educator, mentoring college music education students as they embark on their first steps as music teachers. Ms. Leahy was recently recognized as an “Extraordinary Educator” by the Economic Council of Palm Beach County Foundation for her innovative instruction during the pandemic.
A former district chairperson of the Florida Vocal Association, Ms. Leahy is also a member of the National Association for Music Education, Florida Music Education Association, and the American Choral Directors Association. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Miami and a Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
