Ed Shuman

Collaborative Pianist
Ed Shuman is a musician who has lived and worked in Palm Beach County since the 1980’s. He is a pianist, composer, and teacher who taught in Palm Beach County schools for 33 years. As a musician and pianist, Ed served in numerous capacities with Palm Beach Opera, Gold Coast Opera, the Delray Beach Chorale, and Temple Shaarei Shalom in Boynton Beach, where he continues to play for High Holy Days and regular Shabbat services.  He has accompanied middle and high school choruses for various concerts and music performance assessments. He has accompanied instrumental soloists for the Florida Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Festivals each year. 
 
Before coming to Florida, Mr. Shuman studied for several years in Italy with the great Hungarian piano teacher Ilonka Deckers.  He holds degrees in piano from the University of Cincinnati College – Conservatory of Music, the University of South Carolina, and the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Italy.  In 1981, he appeared as a piano soloist in the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series at the Chicago Public Library in a recital broadcast on National Public Radio, and in 1999, he received the prestigious William T. Dwyer Award for Excellence in Elementary Education.
