All of us here at Young Singers of the Palm Beaches started our 2019/2020 season off with the theme, "Building Community Through Song," and we are happy to show you some of the ways we are doing just that!

YSPB/PRIME TIME AFTER SCHOOL CHOIRS CONTINUE
Our Prime Time after school choirs continue to "build community through song." We are providing the benefits of being in a choir, for free, to hundreds of children in our area, thanks to a grant from Prime Time Palm Beach County, Inc. Some of the schools we are enriching include: Achievement Center for Children & Families (@ Village Academy), Beacon Cove Intermediate, Berkshire Elementary, Hammock Pointe Elementary, Heritage Elementary, Jupiter Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, North Grade Elementary, Northmore Elementary, Pine Grove Elementary, Renaissance Charter, U.B. Kinsey/ Palmview Elementary, and Washington Elementary.

YSPB CHOIR IN THE GLADES
Young Singers' Choir in the Glades had a busy holiday season... They sang at Belle Glade's annual Festival of the Trees, and Choir in the Glades along with our Lake Shore Teen Singers performed wonderfully at their holiday concert, "A Very Merry Holiday."

YSPB SERVED AS THE CHILDREN'S CHORUS FOR THE PALM BEACH OPERA
We are beaming with pride! Our Young Singers outdid themselves, performing recently with the Palm Beach Opera in Hansel and Gretel at Delray's Crest Theater, and in Turandot at the Kravis Center. Their professionalism and outstanding vocals was noted by the audiences and backstage crews as well and we are so proud of them all.

SOME OF THE COMMUNITY EVENTS THAT FEATURED THE TALENTS OF OUR YOUNG SINGERS:

• Our Senior Ensemble, under the direction of Sonia Santiago, shared their talents with the community by performing at The Palm Beach Roundtable at The Colony Palm Beach.

• So proud of our Young Singers who participated in the Schmidt Vocal Competition at Palm Beach Atlantic University in October 2019.

• Grateful to support the American Cancer Society and breast cancer research. Thanks to Emma for getting up early to sing the National Anthem.

• Our Senior Ensemble shared their talents again with the community, this time at Connect Church.

• Our Junior Ensemble also shared their beautiful song - at the Palm Beach Gardens Library.

• In December, our Junior Ensemble and Senior Ensemble both performed out at "A Classic Christmas at Yesteryear Village." The Village’s historic buildings were minimally decorated, indicative of the time period portrayed in Yesteryear Village, and the voices of our Young Singers filled the historic church with joy.

• Did you happen to hear us sing at the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure again this year? It was a pleasure to be part of this large community event. Our Senior Ensemble performed in the Survivor's tent and sang inspirational and uplifting songs like "You'll Never Walk Alone." We are grateful to our singers and their parents for getting up early and sharing their talents.

YSPB BAXTER SCHOLARS
Our YSPB Baxter Scholars are always happy to share their time with others, including a visit to The Arc of Palm Beach County, and helping at our holiday concert and party with Choir in the Glades. Grateful teens giving back!

And of course, the big highlight of the season was all of our young singers, including our Choir in the Glades elementary school choir, coming together to perform for our community on the main stage of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Saturday, November 23rd was "Winter Tapestry 2019: The Gift of Song"... and The Gift of Song was truly that... a gift! We are so thankful for all of our hardworking young singers and dedicated conductors, staff and volunteers.
