Young Singers is thrilled to offer Master Classes, all taught by in-the-field professionals and Broadway stars.

Build your knowledge, skills and confidence!
All ages and all skill levels are welcome to participate.
You do not need to be a YSPB member to participate; the public is welcome to register. 

Classes are a one-time, 75 minute workshop, on Saturdays in January 2021 via Zoom, and are limited to 25 attendees each class. Each class is only $35, so we expect these to fill up fast!

 

CHARACTER STUDY

Marina Pires teaches how to dive into a role. Marina, an actress, singer and songwriter, is most notably known from "On Your Feet! The Musical" (Broadway First National Tour & Regional Premier).

Character Study is an essential tool for anyone wanting to further their skills as a performer. It teaches you how to build a relationship to the characters you become on stage, in film, or even during a voice over! Whether you're an aspiring opera singer, musical theater star or even planning to become a teacher this master class is a wonderful introduction! It will create a foundation for more engaging and meaningful performances.

MUSICAL COMEDY TECHNIQUE

Learn the formula for funny with Broadway's Maggie McDowell. Maggie has performed on Broadway in "Disaster!" and "Kinky Boots" and made her NYC solo debut with "Morning Person," which she wrote and starred in!

Did you know there is a formula for funny!? In this class performers will learn the basics for stage comedy. Musical theater performers, actors, classical vocalists can all benefit from this wonderful introduction to making things funny! This kind of class can also made a wonderful addition to college applications and resumes! It doesn't hurt to have connections to real deal professionals who also attended some of the top universities!

MUSICAL THEATER SONG WRITING

Join Annabelle Fox and Douglas Tieman to learn the ins and outs of creating your own work. The duo has extensive musical theater experience and is currently developing the new folk musical "Johnny and the Devil's Box."

Song writing is not only an amazing skill to develop but it is also a wonderful outlet for creativity. Even if you're not an aspiring writer, song writing can give great insight and inspiration to other creative projects. As a singer, this class will give you greater understanding and deeper perspective for the music you'll perform. Explore how to brainstorm music as well as basics for how to get your music on paper, through garage band or transcription.
