Young Singers of the Palm Beaches: Betsy McHughAccompanist

 

Ms. McHugh grew up in Northern New Jersey.  She studied with teachers from Julliard School of Music and received her Bachelor of Music in piano from Westminster Choir College with a minor in voice.  She studied piano and organ and was  a double principal in both, but then chose to concentrate on piano. She was an Allstate participant in flute and piccolo, as well as a member of a national touring handbell choir that performed and competed at the national and international levels.  Ms. McHugh accompanied the New Jersey Ballet and had a private piano studio in New Jersey and Florida for over 20 years.  She is a judge for District and State Piano Competitions at Palm Beach Atlantic University and has accompanied for Spotlight on Young Musicians at the Kravis Center, Pathfinder Awards, and Palm Beach County Choral Festival.   This will be her second year as accompanist for the Junior Achievement of Palm Beach County and their Watch A Rising Star event held at the Kravis Center, which awards scholarship money to the top four high school senior vocalists chosen through audition. Ms. McHugh also accompanied the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches performance at Lincoln Center, as well as their trips to Oregon and New Mexico.  She is currently an accompanist for BAK Middle School of the Arts and several public and private schools.
